Basketball icon and head coach of the Memphis Tigers Penny Hardaway is honored with his very own 1-of-1 Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Legacy.” Gifted to him by ACES, the brand celebrates Hardaway’s impact on basketball, his transition from player to coach, and the resurgence of his coveted signature sneaker.
Originally released in 1995, the Nike Air Max Penny 1 was designed by Eric Avar and was Hardaway’s first signature shoe with Nike. Thanks to a collaborative drop from Social Status and the return of OG colorways like “Orlando” and “All-Star,” the Nike Air Max Penny 1 came back in a big way in 2022. The Nike Air Penny 2 is also experiencing a revival, with Stüssy leading the way.
With hustle and heart, ACES aims to tell the stories of champions, underdogs, and those that are working to make their mark on lifestyle, culture, and sport. Penny Hardaway is the perfect vessel for ACES’ mission, making this collaboration the meeting of two game-changers.
The sneaker itself takes on a timeless form as the upper plays it cool in a shade of Sail suede. The suede is secured with an extensive White overlay with a grooved wave imprint. The Nike Swoosh appears in Black and is printed with the ACES’ signature slogan, “Heart & Hustle.”
ACES adds more heart to the sneaker with “God Got Us” text in Metallic Gold on the tongue, which matches the ACES logo on the pull tab. The upper sits atop a swirled midsole in White and Cream.
