Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Jackie Robinson revolutionizing sport and culture by breaking baseball’s color barrier, adidas is going all in for #42. Like previous years, they’ve crafted special edition cleats, but on top of that they’re also bringing out a turf trainer. What’s more? They’ve also announced a new field at Robinson’s alma mater, John Muir High School in Pasadena, CA.

Starting with the adizero Afterburner cleat, this premium pair takes on a cream suede upper with Robinson’s signature and stats taking to gold foil and stencil form. Bronze nods to Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field also provide props to the place where Jackie started and finished his legendary Hall of Fame career.

Next in line, the Icon Turf Trainer pays homage to the suit Jackie wore on the day he retired from baseball, sporting the same style tweed he did when he wrapped up his pro playing days. Gold foil signature and stenciled stats also appear on this pair.

Last but certainly not least, the revamped field will debut on Saturday, April 15 which is officially Jackie Robinson Day. The field was put together in part by 20 adidas employee volunteers and will serve 900 students as well as the local Little League.

“Jackie Robinson changed the game of baseball forever,” said Tauna Dean, director of adidas Social Purpose. “He showed us what breaking barriers looks like. We believe that through sport, we have the power to change lives and we want to help positively impact lives by removing barriers to sports for kids who might not have an opportunity to play otherwise. This new baseball and softball field is just one small way we can help our sports community.”

Check it all out in the photos below and look for the cleats and trainers to launch this Saturday online at adidas and at Eastbay and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
