Beginning last season, the NBA thought it best to create an award show surrounding its end-of-season accolades. The result of said decision is that we’d no longer find out the league’s MVP until the postseason is at an end. Even still, the 2017-18 MVP all but belongs to James Harden.
Adidas Basketball, banking on that assumption being true, has already produced an MVP shoe for the Houston Rockets All-Star shooting guard. Surprisingly, it’s not his Harden Vol. 2 as many would expect. The currently unidentified silhouette appears as a takedown of sorts with no visible Boost tooling. What is apparent is a black upper joined by gold three stripes branding and a marbled outsole riddled in a variety of hues. Most noteworthy, though, is the shoe’s “MVP” lace jewel. The term is also written across the insole which highlights all the stops on James’ hoops tenure.
Harden and the Rockets are back in action tomorrow for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. Throughout the postseason, James has worn varying iterations of his adidas Harden Vol. 2. It’s unclear if and when this new MVP styled pair will release.
