In the late 1980’s, adidas was not the popular machine they are in present day. The brand had just recently faltered, stumbled upon themselves and needed something to pull them back into the light. In 1991, the emergence of the adidas Equipment line repositioned them back in their rightful place at the forefront of sportswear. They accomplished this by not only looking to their past for inspiration, but by stripping away the unnecessary and focusing on the essentials and nothing that was not.

That strategy is the lifeblood of the EQT line as detailed in a revealing new short film entitled “Only the Essentials.” The documentary chronicles the Equipment line from inception to modern-day, showcasing the boldness of the collection through honesty and transparency. Now, ahead of the next evolution of the EQT line, the film explains how adidas ventured to where they are today and how modernism helped shape contemporary, inverted design.

Take a look at the clip below and expect the adidas EQT Support ADV 91/16 and the adidas EQT Support 91/17 to release on January 26 at adidas.com/EQT and select retailers globally.
