Last year, Nike, Inc. (which includes Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse), took home nine of the top ten spots in the list of best selling sneakers in the US. Still, it was adidas who claimed the lone and top spot of #1 seller in 2016 with the Superstar.

While the Swoosh and the Jumpman still lead the Stripes in US market share, bar graphs depicting domestic market share in May of 2016 versus that of 2017 show adidas catching up.

Sneakerheads will point to the wave beginning in 2015 with the debut of the Yeezy line while the mass success of Boost and halo effect have of Kanye have certainly helped their cool cache. With that said, the market as a whole is typically behind the innovators that compose such a sector as our own and the numbers seem to show it as reflected in 2017.

Will adidas’ momentum roll on or will Nike and Jordan continue to lead them in the US? Let us know your opinion in the comments section.
