In the final days before winter, and temperatures (in most places) resembling something like spring or early autumn at best, collective concerns rightfully orbit around global warming. Yet, equally alarming is that of the clean water crisis.

With nearly 8 million tons of plastic trash dumped in the ocean on an annual basis, this issue, and its propensity towards growing larger, is the matter with the faster rate of worsening.

Adidas, though, in efforts to combat this global epidemic, are among the growing list of new names in sustainable design. The adidas Futurecraft 3D, a shoe made almost completely of trash from the ocean, is designed to help athletes achieve their performance goals while also helping the earth maintain its core.

What’s more, using the technology of its time, the adidas Futurecraft combines ocean plastic with 3-D printing innovation, which overtakes the construction of the shoe’s midsole.

Ultimately, adidas aims to produce a shoe made from 100% ocean plastic. The Futurecraft, carefully knitted with ocean plastic, a masterful accomplishment by any stretch, gets the German brand extremely close to their end goal. Give the shoe a look below and stay tuned to Nice Kicks for more.
