The adidas Gil Zero Restomod Gets Inspired by SLAM Magazine

In January of 2022, Gilbert Arena’s first signature shoe made its first retro release. The adidas Gil Zero expanded the “Restomod” lineup and now lands in a colorway paying homage to SLAM Magazine. This release is a call-back to the 2008 collab with adidas and the sports magazine.

This design is inspired by the cover of SLAM Magazine, where Arenas poses shirtless for the cover, showing off his tiger chest piece. His tattoo serves as the main inspiration behind the silhouette’s upper. Other motifs include orange detailing mimicking the magazine’s logo and light blue, which was the backdrop of the issue. As a final call back, the pair features “MY SWAG IS STILL PHENOMENAL” embossed on the medial strap, similar to the OG release.
