Following months of speculation under the assumed thought that James Harden would be (eventually) crowned the NBA’s 2017-18 MVP, last night the Houston Rockets guard finally received his due. Adidas Basketball today celebrates his historic season with a new collection and short film.
Centered around a letter Harden wrote his mother when he was just a young boy, the short film titled “Imma Be A Star” odes his rise to fame and the time, effort and dedication it took for the California native to reach storied heights. Additionally, his second signature shoe, the Harden Vol. 2, is released in an MVP colorway alongside two other Harden offshoots — the Harden Vol. 2 LS and the Harden B/E X, respectively.
All three pairs are available today on adidas.com. Adidas has also produced an assortment of tees for Harden’s MVP announcement also available online.
James Harden is the third Houston Rocket to win the NBA MVP and the first since Hakeem Olajuwon did it back in 1993-94. Harden averaged 30.4 points per game while leading the team to a franchise-record 65 wins.
