Adidas Consortium, for spring 2019, will celebrate its tried and true ZX series. Although visible over the past few years, 2019 appears to be a hallmark campaign for the time-honored series.
There have been flashes of this, of course, including the revelatory adidas ZX4000 Futurecraft 4D also due out next year. In contrast, though, it’ll be the OG ZX models that represent the ground floor of this ever-growing vignette. To that end, the greatest reference is the ZX4000 OG.
Celebrating the shoe’s 30th anniversary after originally releasing decades ago in 1989, the cultural impact of the ZX series was widely felt in its infancy. Adidas hopes lightning will strike twice in the time since the series first raised eyebrows, combining OG releases like this one with the aforementioned juxtaposition of futuristic 4D technology.
True to tradition, the adidas ZX4000 OG highlights a range of lush materials — suede, mesh, and nylon. Each not only aids in comfort but speaks to the design and material story of sneakers 30 years our senior. Which, of course, speaks to Torsion technology that is present of this modern-day edition of a classic.
