Recently, adidas sponsored superstar Kanye West described his fear of what 3D printing could eventually do to his creativity. Fast forward approximately one week later and I’m sure Mr. West didn’t think his newfound partner would create a bit of “collateral damage” for his notion, as adidas has unveiled the future of performance footwear with the Futurecraft 3D.
The Futurecraft 3D is a three dimensional printing concept, that provides the ultimate personalized experience for all athletes. As noted within adidas’ press release, the brand is looking to create “a unique combination of material and process..offering unprecedented individualized support and cushioning for every foot, to enable athletes to perform at their best.” Essentially, various athletes and respective users will be able to create a 3D-printed shoe midsole that can be tailored to the cushioning needs of an individual’s foot.
This is the first chapter within the adidas Futurecraft series that will emerge with further details within the coming months. With that in mind, continue to stay locked to Nice Kicks as we’ll provide ultimate coverage of this innovative initiative.
