adidas has been at the forefront of sustainability by partnering up with Parley and making sneakers out of recycled materials and now has launched Choose To Give Back, a resale program to help create a circular product lifestyle.

The 3 Stripes have partnered up with thredUP and their Resale-as-a-Service program to help extend the lifecycle of sports performance and lifestyle sneakers and apparel. The program will invite customers to send new or used products from any brand back to adidas through the adidas Creator’s Club App to be resold or reused.

The program initially launched in the adidas Creators Club app today on October 7th but the program will extend further into stores and online in early 2022. Consumers can get a Clean Out Kit through the app which generates a prepaid shipping label and use it to send apparel, sneakers, and accessories from any brand. If an item isn’t in condition to be resold it will be recycled through thredUP’s network of textile reuse partners. And in exchange for sending sneakers and apparel in, Creator Club members will earn rewards.

“We believe that great performance shouldn’t come at the cost of the environment. That’s why we’re committed to establishing a circular future for sportswear, and with the Choose to Give Back program are helping people to see new possibilities to give old gear new life,” explains Katja Schreiber, adidas SVP of Sustainability.

adidas hopes to create a circular product lifecycle through the Choose To Give Back program. “The end of one thing is the beginning of the next. This is the beginning of a more responsible future by keeping gear in play to help end plastic waste,” added Katja Schreiber.
