Fast don?t lie, no matter the sport. Adidas aims to track that speed in game, in game practice, and while training with the miCoach SPEED_CELL. Fitting into the outsole cavity of compatible adidas models of all sports, the device is designed to monitor, evaluate, and increase performance by measuring key metrics and uploading statistics wirelessly.
Stats can then be shared, giving athletes the option to see how they stack up in their city, state, nationally, and against star adidas endorsees like Lionel Messi. Personalized coaching programs will also be available at miCoach.com.
Says adidas:
“The miCoach SPEED_CELL is designed to monitor, evaluate and increase performance of athletes across multiple sports including soccer, football, basketball, tennis and running. The miCoach SPEED_CELL sits inside a specially designed cavity in the outsole of adidas footwear to work seamlessly with the athlete?s equipment.
With the miCoach SPEED_CELL, athletes of every level will be able to track their unique stats including average speed, maximum speed, number of sprints, distance at high intensity levels, steps and stride during play. The on-board memory then stores seven hours of an athlete?s metrics and wirelessly transmits the on-field performance data to their smartphone, tablet, PC or MAC.”
Starting December 1st, miCoach SPEED_CELL will be available for smartphone, tablet, PC, and MAC for $69.99 at select adidas accounts and Shop adidas. Running and soccer apps will lead the way with basketball, tennis, and football following in 2012.
