To coincide with the greenest day of the year, Earth Day, adidas ignites a longstanding mission to reduce waste and make sure their brand is one of supreme sustainability.
The German-based brand today announced that they will do away with plastic bags at their retail locations. This transition is said to remove 70 millions bags for approximately 14,000 stores. They will instead make use of recycled paper to store consumer goods.
Lisa Bering, project manager for adidas Global Retail and Franchise Team, has spearheaded this daunting task. She made a statement on the adidas blog on this newly initiated program.
“Overall, the journey may have been long and hard – it was a massive effort especially for the markets – but as a result I can say that I am very proud of having been able to contribute to this large-scale project that makes the adidas Group an even more sustainable company.”
