After Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal were bounced from World Cup play before the semifinals, soon thereafter it was announced that the all-time great would be leaving Real Madrid for Juventus. The move was somewhat expected by many, and came with a hefty $129.3 million transfer fee.

In just a day, however, Juventus, by way of the new adidas Ronaldo kit, recouped half that transfer fee by moving more than half a million of its new star player’s jersey. That number equals total sales of approximately $62.4 million USD.

According to Business Insider much of that vast sum will go to adidas. Juventus, though, will net roughly $6 to $9 million of the sales. This, of course, is just the beginning of what they could potentially see from acquiring a player like Ronaldo who, beyond his play on the pitch, is a whale of an investment off it.

Like many global athletes, Ronaldo often wears one brand while being sponsored by another. To that end, he’ll wear an adidas kit with Juventus but continue to be sponsored by Nike.
