Arthur Ashe, largely regarded as one of the greatest men’s tennis players ever, is at the center of adidas’ Black History Month campaign starring three signature sneakers.
Consisting of the adidas Harden Vol 1 ($140), Dame 3 ($115) and Rose 7 ($140), the spirit of the collection circles Ashe’s pioneering philanthropic vision combined with his unparalleled athletic abilities. Each of the signature models denote a scholastic legacy, webbing a multi-color pattern placed along the sockliner and additional detailing to ode the honorary degrees Ashe received from more than 20 universities during his life and posthumously. There are other notations, too, representing Ashe’s Wimbledon victory and No. 1 world ranking in 1975, along with his initials “AA” at the sockliner with a layered meaning in representation of AIDS Awareness and Anti-Apartheid.
Take a closer look at the adidas Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection below and anticipate the release on January 23 at adidas. James Harden, Damian Lillard and Derrick Rose will debut the collection on-court this weekend and throughout Black History Month this February.
