adidas Running has announced its latest innovations as the Three Stripes continues to deliver high-level products for the running community.

At adidas, we work with some of the most successful elite athletes on the planet. So listening closely to them and implementing their invaluable feedback is a crucial part of the development process of new products.

Our latest round of athlete testing led to the Adizero Boston 12 becoming an even more powerful partner for speedwork and tempo runs.

Meanwhile, we’ve also created the Adizero Adios 8 which is softer and lighter than previous iterations

Whether preparing for your next marathon or looking to elevate you’re running rotation, the adidas Adizero Boston 12 and the adidas Adizero Adios 8 have been designed to make running faster and more enjoyable.

Leading the latest collection is the adidas Adizero Boston 12 — with a newly engineered mesh for increased breathability.

“The adidas Adizero Boston 12 is a completely new model upper wise and also tooling wise,” said Charlotte Heidmann, Senior Global Product Manager at adidas Running.  “Our aim was to reduce some weight of the shoe, which we have achieved. We have now cut 10 grams, so the shoe weighs 260 grams (~9 ounces).”

Additionally, the Boston 12 includes the brands ENERGY RODS 2.0 for a more fluid heel-to-toe transition. Alongside the rods are the brand’s LIGHTSTRIKE Pro and LIGHTSTRIKE 2.0 high-level performance foam for a cushioned and dynamic experience. With those three layers, adidas is providing a more stable run ideal for training.

“It’s important to have a little bit of more stable feel throughout the run rather than just you using LIGHTSTRIKE Pro, which we have on our race models,” Heidmann said.

As for the Adizero Adios 8, the brand created a lightweight engineered mesh that makes the latest model the lightest within the Adios franchise.

The Adios 8 includes ENERGYTORSION ROD 2.0 within the midsole and features a new third rod that runs from the midfoot to the forefoot for a snappy toe-off. Paired with LIGHTSTRIKE Pro and LIGHTSTRIKE 2.0, the Adios 8 is designed to take training to a new level.

With marathon winners and high-level performers at every major race, the brand will continue to innovate on its heritage models as each iteration improves from its predecessor.

“There’s so much innovation and technology involved into the issues that we can’t update everything at the same time,” Heidmann said. “For this season, we focused on Adios and Boston. Maybe there’s more to come in a few months — it never gets boring on Adizero.”

The adidas Adizero Boston 12 is available globally for $160 while the adidas Adizero Adios 8 retails for $130 and releases on June 15 at adidas.com and select global retailers.
