Adidas, over the course of the last few years, has fundamentally changed the way we view, purchase and wear running shoes. Much of this started with the adidas Ultra Boost, and continued with the likes of the NMD and most recently, the AlphaBOUNCE.
That said, the German-based sportswear giant has seen a huge surge in their performance running division. In the first quarter of this year alone, adidas experienced 31% growth in that sector alone, floating hight above any of their competitors in that particular genre.
The Ultra Boost, of course, is the overarching anchor, a foundational shoe that sells consistently well. However, though, the recent release of the Ultra Boost Uncaged turned out to be their fastest selling running shoe in America moving over 11,000 units in the first hour of its release. The subsequent release of the Ultra Boost Uncaged with Color sold out in a day.
The adidas AlphaBOUNCE, very similar in its rapid success, sold out its first global shipment in 48 hours. Men’s sizing sold even faster, selling out in just 12 hours.
““The momentum we have in running is undeniable. adidas has the best innovations in the industry with BOOST, Primeknit and now BOUNCE,” expressed Paul Bowyer, Senior Running Director for adidas North America. “And today, with high style performance products and impactful execution, we’re connecting with consumers like never before. We’re seeing runners switch brands, athletes choose adidas over our competitors and sneakerheads demand a performance shoe. adidas Running will continue to accelerate and we’re eager to share what’s next.”
