At a major media event in New York City yesterday, adidas hosted journalists and photographers from all over the globe to unveil what the German brand is denoting as the best shoe they’ve ever made: the adidas Ultra Boost. Celebrating the two years since Boost technology was initially unveiled, the Ultra Boost ditches the standard EVA trim seen on the outsole of the original Energy Boost, resulting in 20% more Boost technology in 360° fashion.
A Torsion system is intact for transition and heritage, while a newly engineered heel cup caters to function and flash. Perhaps the most striking attribute of this new running silo is its Primeknit upper. While Primeknit has paired with Boost in the past, this iteration features a more elastic Primeknit construction for a stretchy, snug fit. In addition, the shoe’s supportive sockliner is meant to form to each individual runner’s foot, while a new heel construction takes better to the natural movement of the Achilles tendon. Lastly, a Stretch Web outsole completes the silo, bringing the runner closer to the Boost cushioning.
