With three days left it is definitely crunch time! As usual, the class gathered around D’Wayne’s desk to officially start the day. Today’s focus of discussion was about really taking the time to think and reflect what role we want to play in the footwear design industry and what steps we need to take to successfully achieve our goal. Today’s quote of the day was:

“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it” – Lou Holtz

D’Wayne emphasized design is not a place to have weakness and as we continue to push through the last couple of days, we must keep up the same momentum and elevate. Along with that, he suggested the book 9 Things Successfully People Do Differently by Heidi Grant.

1.) Get specific
2.) Seize the moment to act on your goals
3.) Know exactly how far you have left to go
4.) Be a realistic optimist
5.) Focus on getting better, rather than being good
6.) Have a grip, don’t quit
7.) Build your will power muscle
8.) Don’t tempt fate
9.) Focus on what you will do, not what you won’t do

Following the discussion, we continued to further refine our designs. As the color and material designer for Team Ajee’ Wilson, I met with my teammates to discuss color blocking strategies as well as finalize finishes for each material as they prepare to marker render their final concept.

We also had the privilege of meeting the Senior Design & Innovation Recruiter at Adidas! He shared with us the Adidas recruitment process as well as how to stand out as a potential candidate. He also mentioned the growing opportunities available at Adidas, as the company is currently restructuring its organization. We are all very much excited to share our final designs on Friday at the Village, but until then – time to keep pushing!

Morning huddle with D’Wayne! Dominic and Robert from Team Ajee’ Wilson discuss revisions for their final concept Andy sharing Adidas’ design recruitment process!
