Inspired by Chapter 1 of Y-3’s SS24 collection, delving into a realm where the interplay between organic and synthetic elements yields unexpected beauty, the adidas Y-3 S-GENDO RUN introduces a groundbreaking hollow plate concept. Boldly exploring the notion of negative space and elevation, the design draws inspiration from the Japanese concept of ‘Ma,’ where emptiness gives rise to deeper meaning and form, embodying the rebellious Contra-Natural spirit.

The adidas Y-3 S-GENDO RUN seamlessly merges cutting-edge midsole technologies from recent adidas running models with the visual legacy of the brand’s archival trainers. Its sport-inspired upper combines breathable mesh, suede, and leather, resting upon a Lightstrike midsole and a hollow Pebax® plate with a poured-in EVA element, resulting in a distinctly striking silhouette.

This innovative design places a strong emphasis on comfort and aesthetics, culminating in an expressive outsole. The juxtaposition of a seasonal floral graphic and herringbone tread on the outsole represents a dynamic fusion of ideas, connecting the past with the future and bridging the gap between new and traditional technologies.
