Even if you missed the leak that famously floated around the web months ago, you had to know that an adidas Y-3 Stan Smith was coming at some point in time.
The undisputed best-selling shoe in adidas history, and a linchpin in their overtaking Under Armour for that coveted number 2 spot for leading sportswear brands, Yohji Yamamoto got his hands on the time-honored tennis shoe and didn’t disappoint.
Aptly titled the adidas Y-3 Stan Zip, Yamamoto masterfully added modern enhancements to the low-cut style without stripping away its sporting essence. For the one-piece upper, the revered designer opts for the same material used to outfit the Qasa silhouette, while a traditional Stan Smith midsole resides below. However, though, the most intriguing update is undoubtedly the dual-zip tongue construction.
The functional zippers, when zipped down, reveal embossed Yohji Yamamoto branding. This, of course, is in addition to the Y-3 branding placed on the actual zippers and at the heel.
Adidas hasn’t officially unveiled the shoe yet they’re already beginning to land at international retailers like Aphrodite. Stay tuned for more details.
