If you’ve never caught the lineup on Fairfax when Diamond Supply Co. has a release on the calendar, it is a must witness, a right of passage for all streetwear aficionados. This brand, birthed in humble beginnings with an all too familiar dollar and a dream mentality, helped mold the thriving genre into the juggernaut it is today.
Much of the brand’s success, of course, hinges upon their penchant to innovate and forecast streetwear trends. And more, especially in recent years, to do much of the same as it relates to footwear. And aside from collaborative offerings with the likes of Ibn Jasper, their inline collection continues to grow in strength and numbers.
Diamond Supply Co All DayShowcasing fall releases at Agenda Miami was an exceptional strategic move. Miami, an emerging skate capital with a curiosity that defies footwear conformity, Diamond Supply was well suited for the Miami showcase. On display were vibrant hues, bursting with personal and individual essence, atop skate-inspired silhouettes that forcefully opt into the lifestyle market, among others.
The All Day was the most impressive of all items on display. Much like the Ye’ anthem of the same name, the shoe captures an uncharted bravado, both measured for skate specifications and day-to-day functionality. But even more alluring is the presence of simplicity masquerading as something else, something more. A solid toe, typical for a skate shoe, then seamlessly transitions into a perforated midfoot and collar, woven to perfection with subtle details leaping from the sleek style.
Diamond Supply Co ToreyThere was also the Torey, which unlike the All Day, was more of a throwback silo for Diamond Supply, though still serving as the new signature shoe for Torey Pudwill. It is, essentially, what first caught our attention – and everyone else’s – from their (still) relatively new footwear collection. Understated, clean and with the ability to be so much more than its somewhat base level existence would suggest, lively colors like yellow and their famed “Tiffany” hue allow for transitional wears in fall and the forthcoming warm weather months.
