As the premiere sneaker game of the Metaverse, Aglet encourages people to wear their sneakers, explore their cities, and grow their virtual sneaker shelf to become the ultimate Sneaker Don. The Aglet app converts your real-life steps into in-game currency that allows you to obtain virtual sneakers. Since the app launched, users could wear anything from beaters to holy grails, but now, for the first time ever, users will be able to purchase a real-life pair of the Aglet One sneakers, which comes with a matching NFT – both of which can be synced with the game.
Aglet just recently launched the app’s NFT feature which debuted the original sketch of the Aglet One Low and an NFT version of the classic “OG” colorway. Now, the NFT sneaker will be tied to a real-life physical pair of the Aglet One sneakers.
Made possible by onlife Inc., the next-generation experience platform takes pride in merging virtual worlds with physical goods. Onlife Inc. wants to encourage digital trade and give real-life value to the users’ virtual sneaker shelves in the Aglet app.
“The obvious problem with the current iteration of NFTs is that most projects are pump-and-dump schemes, with the last unfortunate participant left holding the bag,” said Ryan Mullins, CEO at Aglet and onlife Inc.. “Our intention from the beginning has been to integrate digital assets, and now NFTs, into your daily life as you move around the world. The main focus is not arbitrage – there are other NFT plays out there if your goal is to flip the latest zany zoo animal for maximum profit. We are focused on the true ownership, mobility and utility of the assets you collect as you play the game of life.”
Additionally, onlife Inc. raised a new round of funding for Aglet to further its platform led by Galaxy Interactive and Amazon’s Alexa Fund. As 2022 continues, Aglet will be rolling out a series of upcoming NFT features in the game.
“For two years, our players have been collecting digital assets in the form of virtual sneakers, that were already non-fungible in a sense, as they could be bought, traded and sold, and using them in ways to best fit their needs,” said Owen Batt, Co-founder of onlife Inc. “Now we are accomplishing a two-year dream to bridge the digital assets to the physical world with the release of the Aglet One Low sneakers that are beloved and coveted by our players around the globe.”
The Aglet One will be available for pre-order via the Aglet app beginning on May 28, 2022. Players who buy the real-life sneakers will also receive a specially minted NFT to mark the release, both the sneakers and tokens will be strictly limited for the initial run.
