Air Jordan 1

The first Air Jordan signature silhouette would change the way we looked at sneakers for the foreseeable future as the Air Jordan 1 would be unveiled in 1985. Created by former Nike designer Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 took cues from iconic Nike Basketball silhouettes such as the Nike Dunk. Although MJ would be skeptical of the “devilish colors” of red and black that comprise the Air Jordan 1, this signature debut would help him capture Rookie of the Year honors as well as an All-NBA Second Team nod.

In addition, the Air Jordan 1 would make an appearance during the 1985 Slam Dunk contest in which MJ and his gold chains stole the show and let the world know of his impending stardom.
