Today, Photoshop fantasies became retail realities as the Air Jordan 1 “What the” was confirmed with a fall release date from Footlocker EU. While said shoe is happening, the exact nickname and origin is somewhat different from what most hypothesized.

According to Sneaker News who conversed with JB, the Air Jordan 1 “What the” is actually the Air Jordan 1 “Top 3”. The nickname derives from the use of the “Banned,” “Chicago” and “Royal” colorways — which popularity and prices on the resale market would suggest are the top three colorways — as well as MJ’s pegging as the third pick in the 1984 NBA Draft.

Official images of the Air Jordan 1 “Top 3” still elude us (the lead image is a choppy, random Photoshop job), but expect a Jordan Release Date of November 28th.
