Saturday, May 30th, is a day many of you have had marked on your calendars for months now. The return of the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” is no ordinary retro. And it’s certainly not just another marker in the long list of releases celebrating the 30th anniversary of Jordan Brand. Simply put, this is where it all begin. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t look back at the originator. If nothing else, just so pay homage.

But being that its a-alike drops this weekend, we though it best to take a glimpse at the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” past, preset and future – to bridge the gap between what happens when a shoe retros three decades later.

Now, many of you may be thinking “well what about the 1994 release? And more recently, the 2013 drop?” — as you fine Jordan enthusiast should be. Thus, today we highlight one fan’s side-by-side comparison of the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” from 1985, 1994, 2013 and to present time. Subtle differences are noted in each model, while larger design variations are seen as the age gap widens. Of course, “Nike Air” script returns to the tongue of the new edition, along with red lining and three sets of laces. Also visible in each pair is the length of the toe box, which seems to increase then decrease over time.

See for yourself in the images below and let us know your thoughts on the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” through the years, and if you plan to grab a pair this Saturday, May 30.
