Jordan Brand‘s Wings program has unveiled its latest design with the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid Wings “NYC Subway” colorway.

The Wings program, which started in 2015, began as an initiative to inspire the next generation with its four key programs: Wings Scholars, Wings Design Program, Beyond Basketball, and the Wings Internship Program.

Since its inception, the Wings program has stretched across North America, Paris, Manila, and Greater China, awarding more than 3,200 scholarships, a growing network of 30+ community partner organizations, and more than 125K volunteer hours by Jordan Brand employees from across the globe.

The latest installment in the Wings series is the Air Jordan 1 Mid, dedicated to New York City’s MTA subway system. The process began with 138 high school students from Jordan Brand Wings partner organizations nationwide who worked closely with a group of Jordan Brand product creators. The Wings students pitched their design in front of a panel inclusive of Jordan Brand employees who selected the winning design for production.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid Wings “NYC Subway” edition is a tribute to the MTA, embodying the relentless spirit of New York City.

The design nods to urban life with reflective swooshes mirroring train stripes and grey/black tones reminiscent of subway colors. Speckled accents evoke subway station floors, while “Always Go Forward” on the toe embodies the MTA’s perseverance.

Gratitude is etched on the tongue, while the “NIKE” emblem resembles subway lines. Reflective laces and subway-themed packaging complete the homage, alongside student-designed tissue paper featuring city motifs.

Each pair includes an MTA Jordan Card sticker and a Jumpman tag celebrating NYC’s diversity. The Air Jordan 1 Mid Wings “NYC Subway” colorway is more than a shoe — it’s a symbol of urban resilience and unity.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid Wings “NYC Subway” releases on May 15, 2024, for $125 via Nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers in New York City, including Nike House of Innovation NYC and Nike Soho.
