When Michael Jordan ended his playing career with the Washington Wizards back in 2003, it brought to an end the most decorated basketball tenure the world at large had ever seen. To commemorate the occasion, on April 20, 2003, Nike took out a full-page ad in the Washington Post to showcase a letter penned by Jordan himself.

That letter, and its depiction in print, inspires the upcoming Air Jordan 13 “Love and Respect” pack. The set of monochromatic black and white pairs feature the moniker scripted across the mudguard and heel, an ode to Jordan’s sign off on the letter, “much love and respect.” The two-piece offering is both for men and women, with the white pair for men and the black for the fairer sex.

The Air Jordan 13 “Love and Respect” is set to release in China on October 1 with an adjoining apparel collection. No U.S. release details have been announced. Stay tuned.
