Nike x Doernbecher “Freestyle” Series
As previously mentioned, 2007 would be the inaugural year for the collaboration between the Dorenbecher Children’s Hospital and the Nike brand. Dubbing it the “Freestyle Program” this initiative would enlist the help of several artistic patients of the hospital in which they would create 1-of-1 iterations of their favorite Nike or Air Jordan models.
The first Jumpman x Doernbecher model would be the DB Air Jordan 2 created in 2007, fusing a dark color-palette of mostly black, pro-gold and lucky green. Designed by Sheridan Brenton, the makeup would kickoff the series and send sneakerheads to absurd levels of fandom; albeit for a great cause.
