Originally released in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” saw brilliant brush strokes on a rich black base. Michael Jordan made the model and the colorway famous, defeating a strong Suns team in the NBA Finals. On the heels of the Air Jordan 8 Playoffs retro release, we compare the 2013 version to that of its original ancestor from two decades ago.

Twenty years of chilling have seen the midsole on the OG “Playoffs” deteriorate to an unwearable state. Aging aside, the retro version shares many of the same style specs as the model it derives from. How do the retro stack up to the OGs?
