Welcome to 2016, where unreleased samples are now general releases. This is by most measures cool, with the Air Jordan 9 “Kobe” bringing a retail rendition of a shoe that almost never was.
Gifted to Kobe Bryant during his sneaker free agency period with his then #8 scoring the heel, the shoe remained unworn by Kobe in NBA action but still lives on in sneaker lore thanks to collectors like Dependable Jay and this slightly adjusted retail release. Sporting MJ’s numeric notation while still hosting colors conjoined to the Staples Center, this PE-esque pair may no longer be rare but it’s still unique as it hits stores such as Sneaker Politics this Saturday.
