Some of you may already know that Tinker Hatfield was inspired by the P-51 Mustang when he was designing the Air Jordan 5. What many of you probably don’t know is that the “sunburst” on the side of the shoe that resembles the WWII fighter plane was a painted rendering of the Grey Nurse Shark.
For the second Flight Club exclusive Fusion release, Jordan Brand went back to the roots of the design of the Air Jordan 5 for this special Fusion 5 make up. Only fitting to release these Air Jordans at the Jordan “Flight Club”, the shoe is designed to look just like the original P-51 Mustangs with military style colors, rugged materials, and cosmetic additions such as the eyes of the shark and Jordan’s initials on the side “MJJ” for Michael Jeffery Jordan. If the graphic of the Grey Nurse Shark looks a little familiar, that’s because it is the same graphic that was on the Tuskegee Air Men Air Force Ones from a few years ago. The Tuskegee Air Men flew the P-51 Mustangs in WWII. These are available now online at Flight Club and Osneaker.com. |
