By most measures, the Air Jordan XX8 changed cushioning with the breakthrough technology of the Flight Plate. While the Schoeller Mesh shroud turned heads and offered aesthetic innovation, its performance prowess didn’t quite match that of the cushioning. The Air Jordan XX9 looks to change the game and cover all bases, modifying the home run Flight Plate and introducing a performance woven upper for sock-like fit.

Cutting down on the multi-layer method used on its predecessor, the Air Jordan XX9 is engineered to fit like a glove. Like Flywire technology, the performance woven upper features different levels of support and give for superior fit in lightweight fashion. Flight Web channels allow such variance in structure, while a sock styled lining caters to breathability. The woven upper also offers aesthetic ability, serving as a blank canvas for detailed imagery and innovative colorways.

As addressed above, the Flight Plate is featured in evolved fashion. The elements of harnessed Zoom Air in the heel and forefoot are still intact, connected via a Pebax moderator plate.

While previous Air Jordan signatures have launched in February, the Air Jordan XX9 will launch in the fall in preparation for basketball season. Slated to be worn by Russell Westbrook, the Air Jordan XX9 will release this September in both Black/White-Gym Red and Black/Team Orange-Dark Grey colorways.
