These days LeBron James is playing almost exclusively in his 16th signature silhouette. Lacing up inline and PE editions alike, James doesn’t deviate from the program often. When he does, however, it’s special — take his return to Cleveland when he pulled out the LeBron 7 “More Than A Game” edition for instance.
Even more interesting is that fact that James hasn’t worn his LeBron Soldier 12 very much at all this season. Widely considered his postseason shoe which would imply that he’d return to the offshoot line next year when a new iteration releases and the playoffs begin, the high-arching, strapped-up silhouette is still releasing in intriguing themes at retail.
The latest takes inspiration from 1992’s Nike Air Raid. Marked “For Outdoor Use Only” with cross strapping mechanisms that marveled cross training aficionados of their time, the Black/Silver original colorway is revisited here with an identical theme and the same font that reinforced “Air Raid” branding in the early ’90s. Here, “Soldier” is branded at the end of the snake-like top strap, which overlays a noir focused mixed material base.
Fans of this Nike LeBron Soldier 12 can grab a pair now for $140 at select Swoosh retailers.
