Skate legend and longtime Vans rider Tony Alva goes off the wall with his namesake label, delivering a new Alva Skates x Vans Collection. Tony Alva and Vans have an extensive history in the skate scene, both together and apart, as Alva helped Vans develop the first-ever skate shoe, the Vans Era.

Since then, Vans and Tony Alva regularly team up to release new collections that honors their legacies. Vans and Alva’s latest and greatest features three new colorways of the Vans Authentic 44 DX, paired with a clothing collection.

Paying homage to the original Alva Skateboards in the ’70s, the Authentic 44 DX features leopard-printed suede in “Brown/Pink.” This iteration uses the oversized, visually distorted Alva logo that goes out of bounds— a direct reference to how the logo was executed on Alva boards in the 1970s. This logo is reiterated on the “Halo-Multi” version, which also references to the halo effect on Alva boards in the ‘80s. The footwear is rounded out with a final Authentic 44 DX in “Navy,” which is crafted with a quilted canvas upper featuring white lotus print, and calm, earthy colors.

As of the apparel collection, Alva Skates delivers a crew fleece, OTW short sleeve tee, and a loose tapered cargo pant and bucket hat in grape leaf adorned with Alva Skates and Vans pins.

The Alva Skates x Vans Collection releases on January 12, 2023. To purchase, visit Vans.com and Vans retail locations. For more sneaker news and release dates, follow @NiceKicks on Twitter.
