When Stephen Curry requested a lighter and lower look for his next signature shoe, still featuring the same “sleek and fast” approach that made the Curry 4 a much-loved model and a championship-proven performer, his team of designers knew the request would take them to a new place.
“Steph is great and has really become part-design thinking and heavily function thinking as well,” says Dave Dombrow, UA’s Chief Design Officer. “With this one specifically, he was thinking about weight and how do we get lighter. He was also thinking about how do we possibly get lower.”
Highlighted by a knit collar sleeve and molded Anafoam support piece around the toe and heel, the newest addition to the Warriors’ sharpshooter’s signature editions introduces an entirely new silhouette for his line.
Working on-court for his sudden shifts and bursts to the basket, or off-court for everyday life, you can check out the latest colorway of Curry’s fifth sneaker, showcased in the “Welcome Home” theme, below in detail.
The Under Armour Curry 5 “Welcome Home” is available now on UA.com. For more on the design process of the shoe, be sure to check out our full Q&A with Under Armour’s Dave Dombrow.
