In his early days, Andre Agassi was one of the loudest dressers on the tennis court. Paving the way for all the bright colors we see today on the clay and the court, Agassi was a rebel and a trendsetter both in competition and on the foot. Now retired but recently reunited with Nike, Agassi spoke with The New York Times on his current approach to style and sneakers. Here were some takeaways on the footwear front:
“Having these Air Tech Challenges back, I don’t want to get them dirty. Having a new pair of sneakers is like having a great wine at your house: You get it and stare at it and you don’t really think you should drink it. I’m in a constant conflict of wanting to put them on but not wanting to get them dirty.”
“I’m in favor of sneakers with suits. I also want to save the female gender from torture with shoes that aren’t comfortable. I favor comfortable shoes for everybody.”
