On December 2, adidas and the Minnesota Timberwolves celebrated Anthony Edwards Night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The evening highlighted the young superstar’s impact on the franchise, the league, and the major success of his first signature sneaker, the adidas AE 1. A major spotlight was on the debut of the adidas AE 1 Low “Nick’s Gift,” a new colorway inspired by Ant’s best friend, Nick Maddox.
The pair celebrates eight years of friendship between Anthony and Nick, whom you’ve seen alongside Anthony in multiple adidas AE 1 commercials. The pair comes in a cool icy blue upper, reminiscent of the Timberwolves’ City Edition aesthetic, and instead of Edwards’ initials on the shoe, this version swaps in Nick’s on the tongue and insole for a personal, heartfelt detail.
Before the game, Nick (in partnership with adidas and Foot Locker) made a grand entrance at the Target Center in a signature AE peach-wrapped delivery truck loaded with “Nick’s Gift” AE 1 Lows, exclusive AE posters, and limited-edition merchandise to share with fans. As the game tipped off, Anthony Edwards hit the court alongside Timberwolves mascot ‘Crunch’ and the Timberwolves dancers to officially unveil the new colorway, giving fans an exciting live look at the shoe in action.
Inside the arena, Adidas took over the Target Center, transforming the space with dynamic promotional displays, interactive activations, and additional giveaways. These efforts celebrated Anthony Edwards’ rise as one of the NBA’s brightest stars and honored the people who have supported him along the way. The night culminated in style, with the Timberwolves securing a commanding 109-80 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, making it an unforgettable evening for fans and Edwards alike.
The adidas AE 1 Low “Nick’s Gift” officially launches for $110 on December 14 on adidas.com and select Foot Locker locations. More details here.
