ASICS’s EX89 Suits Up in “Lakers” Colors

Thanks to a reintroduction from Ronnie Fieg, ASICS’ EX89 basketball silhouette is now making its triumphant return in this Lakers-inspired colorway.

Having originally debuted back in the late 80s as the GEL-Extreme, this revamped ASICS EX89 sports a full leather build with mesh tongues and lining dipped in Lakers’ signature hues. The lauded basketball franchise’s purple and gold hues pop from the pair’s white base, the former is predominantly seen on the Onitsuka Tiger stripes, tongues, and liner, while the latter is seen on the lower eyestays and front portion of the outsole. Further elevating the ASICS EX89 “Lakers” are the silver mesh tongues and double-stitched seams.
