In a clever move that carefully teeters the line of consumer demand and historic preservation, Nike is set to re-release the 13-year old atmos x Air Max 1 “Safari” collaboration. But they won’t completely mimic the OG pair. A few changes have been made to ensure the integrity of the OG pair, which many deem to be the best Air Max 1 collab of all time.
Set to release on March 14, the atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” differs slightly from the inaugural release from well over a decade ago. This, effectively, allows those who never had a chance to secure the shoe the opportunity to do just that, while older heads that hold them in high esteem still own something timeless, and singular to their generation. This is by no stretch a new formula for Nike. But it is one that appears genius in cases like such.
