words // Nick DePaula:
An iconic Finals, featuring two of the game’s biggest stars of the modern era, highlighted by LeBron James finally delivering a NBA championship to the city of Cleveland. It was a legendary sports moment in every sense of the word, with James and the Cavaliers ultimately winning three straight games after facing a 3-1 deficit. Teams down 3-1 were previously 0-32 in the Finals.
While the battle on the court between James and Stephen Curry was intense, there was an added element of rivalry between their Nike and Under Armour brand sponsors as well. LeBron took advantage of the platform to debut his new Zoom Soldier 10, while Stephen rotated between both the Curry Two and Curry 2.5 through the seven game series. Players on both sides wore gold hued shoes throughout, with Kyrie Irving’s black/gold Kyrie 2 and Richard Jefferson’s HyperRev 2016 PE standing out strong.
