In 2017, Jordan Brand and the Christopher Wallace Memorial Fund created an Air Jordan 13, dedicated to Biggie Smalls for the late rapper’s 45th birthday. The Jumpman and the foundation have unearthed the pairs as 2023 marks the “Jordan Year” for the brand.
The Christopher Wallace Memorial Fund and Jordan Brand have listed 23 pairs in partnership with Sotheby’s, the premier auction house.
This Air Jordan 13 has been reinterpreted to celebrate the legacy of The NOTORIOUS B.I.G., someone who reached for the stars, had the boldest of dreams, with the work ethic to back it up.
Reggie Saunders, Vice President of Entertainment Marketing for Jordan Brand
The black and red Air Jordan 13 draws inspiration from his “black and red lumberjack” flannel and includes Notorious BIG’s iconic phrases from his Juicy track, such as “[i]t was all a dream” and “[i]f you don’t know, now you know” are located on the tongue while “dream” is located on the metal aglets.
We are excited about this collaboration of excellence and look forward to further empowering youth in our inner-city communities with educational tools and opportunities from the proceeds of the auction.
Wayne Barrow, Co-Chair of The Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation
All 23 pairs of the Biggie Smalls x Air Jordan 13 are live now at Sotheby’s website from January 23 to February 3.
