Sneaker and streetwear retailer Bodega has teamed up with athletic footwear brand Asics on a limited-edition, collaborative Gel-NYC.
Dipped in an “After-Hours” colorway, the pair’s color scheme is an ode to the underbelly of Fall/Winter when a city’s true character permeates and what happens when the sun goes down. In terms of design, the Gel-NYC combines the best of the 2000’s GEL-NIMBUS 3, GEL-CUMULUS 16, and MC-PLUS. Gritty textiles and materials are used throughout to represent barbed wire and chain link fences, while the glow of city streetlights and neon signs are also nodded to.
Bodega also shared that the color palette was inspired by various city infrastructural elements, with the “Plum Truffle” and “Mole” base coats made to resemble faded asphalt, while “Blazing Coral” mimics neon “OPEN” signs.
The Bodega x Asics Gel-NYC “After-Hours” is set to release via Bodega’s online store at 10 am EST and via its Boston and Los Angeles locations on Friday, September 29. The pair will retail for $180. For more drops, check out our Sneaker Release Dates Calendar.
