Ahead of their time? Yes. In 2001 the only word more abstract than retro was Foamposite. While 80s hip-hop culture staples the Superstar and Air Force 1 stayed in heavy rotation, it was only new era juggernauts like the Air Jordan 11 that could avoid the sales racks and create the midnight mayhem that?s so commonplace today. Such conditions made the Nike Air Foamposite Pro re-release a tough sell. A $170 price tag, limited distribution, and bold colorway were too much for a sneaker that already looked fifteen years ahead of its release date. The shoe went under the radar for most and even eluded Foam lovers that still couldn?t justify the heavy price tag. Today Foamposite is one of the strongest franchises roughly fourteen years after its debut. Two-hundo price tags have become justifiable and loud colorways no longer silence a room. The time?s right, right?
