The Air Jordan 4 saw its initial run in 1989 in four colorways that are all iconic in their own like. Made famous on the court on MJ’s feet and on the silver screen on the feet of Mookie in Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing,” the Air Jordan 4 was one of the most culturally transcendent sneakers of all time.
The colorways were equally as legendary as the shoes themselves – Black/Cement (now known as “Bred”), White/Cement, Fire Red, and Military Blue. Michael Jordan put the three Bullsish colors to work in the NBA and the Military Blues were the alternate option that would kick off a long run of non-court heat that would keep a mainstay in the Air Jordan line from this model and forward.
The four original colorways of the Air Jordan 4 come together in another first for Jordan – a “What The” color up. Across the shoe, each panel and element tell the story of the legendary Jordan shoe that made its first run three decades before.
Towards the top of the year, the Air Jordan 4 was brought back in OG form for the first time in 20 years when the Air Jordan 4 OG “Bred” made a return. Jordan Brand is closing out the thirtieth anniversary of the unforgettable sneaker with the Jordan 4 “What The” in a way that has quickly become a tradition when a model is closed out for its run by Nike Basketball. The “What The” trend started when the What The Dunk brought together 16 different Nike Dunk SBs.
