Candace Parker and adidas continued their fruitful relationship with Candace Parker Day in Chicago on September 16.
More than just a celebration of a basketball icon, the latest installment was a testament to Parker’s enduring impact both on and off the court.
In collaboration with adidas, the WNBA star and two-time champion surprised students from adidas Legacy schools with a virtual appearance, where she shared a motivating message about the importance of staying involved in sports and its ability to open doors to new opportunities.
Following the message, Parker and adidas gifted the students custom T-shirts to mark the special occasion.
The moment is part of a larger journey that Parker and adidas are on together.
Earlier this year, Parker was named President of adidas Women’s Basketball, a groundbreaking move that marked her as the first athlete to hold the title within the brand. This leadership role reflects Parker’s commitment not only to elevating women’s sports but also to shaping the future of adidas’ approach to women’s basketball.
As part of the Candace Parker Day festivities, adidas also announced an additional $1 million in scholarships for alumni from its Legacy Program, which supports Black and LatinX youth in Chicago schools. The investment now totals to $3.7 million over the next four years, reinforcing adidas and Parker’s shared mission to break down barriers and create opportunities for underserved students.
Candace Parker has always been a trailblazer, from her dominance on the court to her leadership in the boardroom.
As the partnership unfolds into the next chapter in her career, Candace Parker Day will continue to expand as a reminder of her influence and the power of sports to uplift and empower communities for generations to come.
