Since switching the name from Pyrex Vision to Off-White, Virgil Abloh has certainly earned his stripes in all fashion circles, creating a clothing collection that gets love from the youth but still bought in at Barney’s. While his recent efforts have drawn inspiration from the Midwest and even mountain climbing, a new shot from @jjjjound on IG sees him stepping into the footwear world.
The first sneaker from Virgil features a green suede upper set atop a midsole that’s an obvious homage to the Air Force 1. An Air Max 1-esque toe piece adds contrast to an otherwise blank upper, while a padded tongue, fat white laces and black heel hit cap off this first colorway.
Pulling streetwear ethos to high fashion fabrics has long been a running theme for Off-White. While we can’t attest to how supple the suede is on this pair, the end result almost appears to be a pretty sharply executed hybrid between the Stan Smith, Samba and Air Force 1. That’s just one opinion though, what are your thoughts on the first sneaker from Off-White? Sound off in the comment section to let us know.
