Nice Kicks: You talk about your son on Twitter quite often. How has your son motivated you as a player and a person?
Chris Paul: He motivates me unbelievably. He gave me a new outlook on everything. At one point, I used to just go out and play for myself and my family. Now, in everything I do, it’s all about him now. He J’s game is ridiculous too. I was going to take a picture of his closet and put it on Twitter.
Jordan CP3.III
Nice Kicks: Everyone from our generation grew up watching Michael Jordan in awe. What was your reaction when you heard that Team Jordan was interested in having you be a member?
Chris Paul: Words can’t describe what that feeling was like. Growing up in North Carolina as a kid, you can have a dirty t-shirt but if it had a Jumpman logo on it you were good. Now, to be a part of that brand and to have my own shoe under that brand is something that I am extremely grateful for. Words cannot express my gratitude. It’s been an unbelievable ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
Nice Kicks: When you talked with Jason about your third shoe, which would’ve been even before the second one released, what did you want to achieve with this third sneaker?
Chris Paul: We wanted it to perform at a high level on the court. We wanted it to have stability, durability and all those different things. We also wanted it to appeal off the court, so that you can just kick around in the shoes and you can wear them out with your friends and different things like that.
Nice Kicks: Business measures the success of the shoes by how well it sells in the market. As an endorsed athlete, how do you define success in a sneaker?
Chris Paul: Obviously, you want your shoe to sell, but this shoe will do great wonders if it can take me to the championship.
