Last week, we posted the story of the kind deed by Yaovi Mawuli Amaglo lacing a classmate in need of new shoes with a pair of Air Jordan 11s that then went viral across social media and several other news sites outside of the sneaker world. We were fortunate enough to catch up with Yaovi the day we posted the story and are happy to share with all of you a recent interview he has done with a local CBS affiliate, WTVR.
Yaovi and his classmate, Jared Newby, speak exclusively with WTVR about the story and what it all means for us as a society.
“I don’t think this is something big. I think this is something small that we should be doing everyday. We can make the world a better place by doing the small stuff” – Yaovi Mawuli Amaglo
“Sometimes the dumb stuff that goes on in this world, it is the small stuff that people do like this that give me hope in the survival of humanity.” – Jared Newby, Yaovi’s classmate
That day, the two teens learned a greater lesson from this at school than any textbook could ever deliver.
We need more of this in the sneaker community.
