Compared to last year’s first round slate of game within the NBA Playoffs, this weekend’s contest were rather “drama-less” as seven of the eight home teams captured convincing victories during their respective Game Ones. However, we still have plenty of intriguing games left as the NBA Playoffs usually becomes thrilling as various series hang in the balance. Ultimately, the captivating moments this weekend came in the likes of notable “first games” as several young stars made their NBA Playoff debut.
So, as always, we here at Nice Kicks saw fit that we showcased some of the more notable NBA Playoff debuts within this latest NK Original. Now while we will omit the likes of John Williamson, much to your grandfather’s chagrin, we will detail the stellar games of those that including the variety of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Julius “Dr. J” Erving
Year: 1977
Matchup: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics
Stat Line: 36 Points, 12/16 from the Free Throw Line
Although Dr. J’s illustrious career began in the ABA, plenty of basketball enthusiasts were interested to see how the iconic game of Julius Erving would translate to the NBA — especially the NBA playoffs for that matter. Although many could make the case for a diluted league at the time, Erving would take on the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 1977 NBA Playoffs. Tallying 36 points, the “Doctor” would live at the free throw line, knocking down 12 of 16 in the iconic Converse Pro Leather.
The Sixers would go on to face the Portland Trailblazers in the 1977 NBA Finals where they would eventually lose to Walton and company in six games.
